Voces del agua

Voices of water (2023)

submerged and on breath-hold, our body boundaries dissolve

underwater performance as a sensory journey and an intimate dialogue with water

the moment when reality surpasses our darkest fears. what do we do when our worst fears, long warned against, come to pass? we often dismiss these possibilities as exaggerations, believing they could never happen. we raise alarm bells in the hope of being proven wrong, that the fear will remain unfounded. yet one day, we wake up, and it’s real. nothing can fully prepare us for this moment, except being part of those already taking action, carried forward by the momentum of collective effort

voces del agua is a reflection. if water had a voice, what would it say? in the response, we create space for it in our collective effort to speak through us. we tap into our primal beings, reaching back to our ancestors who emerged from the water, to the womb where we first heard its rhythm. water, the source of all creation, inspires us to speak truth—loudly, boldly, without effort. we let ourselves fall, merging back into her, returning to our origin. In that space, we recognize that our power stems from the humble inspiration water provides

I am Cenote is an ode to these enigmatic formations, portraying them as more than physical spaces but as vessels of magic and wonder. told in the first person, the cenotes speak to us, revealing their mysteries and beauty. this dialogue culminates in a poignant cry for help—a plea to protect these irreplaceable treasures
